Annexed School Districts

The Bylaws of the Chelsea Alumni Association, Inc. recognize anyone who completed the majority of their education in Chelsea Public Schools or a school that subsequently annexed into Chelsea as Alumni and members of the Chelsea Alumni Association.
In an effort to preserve the history of Chelsea Schools, the Alumni History Team is working to compile a list of schools that annexed into Chelsea plus gather photographs of those schools. Anyone with information they are willing to share is encouraged to reach out to Meredith Walker-Simerly (Class of 2001) at [email protected].

At this time, research indicates at least 28 school schools now form the present-day Chelsea Public Schools district. Research and information collection is still on-going at this time. The confirmed districts are as follows:

Nowata County
  1. Alluwe
  2. Chickasaw Smith School
  3. Coody's Bluff (annexed into Alluwe)

Craig County
  1. Hollins School
  2. Riggs School

Mayes County
  1. Central View School 
  2. Sunnyside School 
  3. South Branch School (Current location annexed to Adair. Research indicates a number of students from the original location of the school chose to attend Chelsea.)

Rogers County
  1. Bushyhead
  2. Winganon 
  3. Whitehill 
  4. Cherokee Central 
  5. Waller
  6. Love 
  7. Catale
  8. England 
  9. Good Hope
  10. Dogtown School
  11. Fair Valley School (Previously Drumgoole School)
  12. School No. 1
  13. Oak Grove School
  14. Curdy School
  15. Condry School

  1. Drumgoole School (Later became Fair Valley School)
  2. Cherokee Public School at Chelsea (site of M.E. Church, east side of town)
